The picturesque village of Alpbach has all the chocolate box charm associated with Austrian ski resorts. Think traditional wooden chalets, a quaint looking church, and beautiful panoramic views of the surrounding mountain range. With a smaller ski area and superb beginners runs, Alpbach is a great area for beginners and families. While the children head to ski school for the morning, parents can take a short shuttle bus to main slopes in the Wildschonau ski area. A lower level ski resort, Alpbach sits at a height of just 1,000 meters meaning that snow levels are sometimes be compromised so booking within the middle of the ski season is advisable.
Sun Peaks, Canada
The newest ski resort on our list, Sun Peaks was only established on the nineties but don’t let its young age fool you, it’s one of the best family ski resorts in not only North America, but the whole world. The village has an extremely family friendly air to it with a number of kids clubs or children who aren’t skiing, quaint cafes. The second largest ski area in British Columbia after Whistler the ski area covers a massive 4,300 acres so adults can get out and explore while the kids are in ski school.
